Thailand releases lighting product import certificate requirements and management measures

Recently, Thailand issued import certification requirements and management measures for electric fans, rice cookers and lighting products. This measure came into effect on March 13.

According to the provisions of this measure, the importer should register with the Foreign Trade Department before the product is imported. The registration period is valid for one year. The importer shall declare the certification of the competent authority (COCA) issued by the government of the exporting country, or the certification of the certification department or agency authorized by the government department or the certification authority to issue the above-mentioned production country certificate. These documents should be submitted to the Customs and Excise Department of Thailand at the appropriate time with the import customs code. Importers should keep electric fans, rice cookers and lighting products separately from other types of products, and should report the import business, holding, exporting, sales and distribution, and inventory of these three products to the Foreign Trade Department on a monthly basis.

On March 15, the Foreign Trade Department of the Ministry of Commerce of Thailand issued the WTO/TBT Circular No. G/TBT/N/THA/414 to the WTO Secretariat to inform the import certificate requirements and management measures for electric fans, rice cookers and lighting products (Thailand Business Bulletin No. BE2555). This measure came into effect on January 12. However, in order to allow for changes in adjustments and to be able to comply with this measure without errors, the effective date is postponed to March 13, 2013.
