Beijing time on June 19th news, in the past few months, Tesla has made several changes to its terms of use of the Supercharger network. Most of the changes are related to the phasing out of free charging services. The only thing that remains unchanged is that owners who are currently buying new cars can continue to enjoy unlimited (matching, pictures, inquiry) times and free charging services in the future.
This article sounds like an infinite number of times, which of course is not realistic. Tesla has now clarified the deadline for purchasing a new car for a free charging service.
Tesla began to inform the current owner that the owner of the new Model S or Model X car before the end of the year will be able to enjoy the free charging service:
“If you purchased any new Model S or Model X car before December 31, 2017, you can use Supercharger for free and unlimited. If you choose to sell the current Tesla vehicle, then charge for free. The service will be transferred to the next owner. In addition, the five friends you specify will also receive a free charging service."
Tesla introduced a pay-per-view model earlier this year, but owners who bought new cars last month still enjoy a free charge of 400 kWh per year by default.
Current Tesla owners can avoid pay-per-view, and new Tesla owners can choose to buy vehicles before the end of the year to avoid this change.
The second-hand Tesla car with a production date of January 15, 2017 is still labeled "free charging" and is now available on the market. “Free charging†has become a new advantage in the second-hand Tesla automotive market:
Last year, Tesla’s goal seemed to be to end the “free charging†policy by the end of 2016, but from the recent changes it seems to be more reliable by the end of 2017.
In addition to the benefits of free charging, Tesla has also updated its fast charge network several times, which is considered to be one of Tesla's biggest advantages in the electric car market.
Earlier this year, Tesla announced plans to expand the Supercharger network, including the construction of a large charging station with 50 to 100 charging piles, and is expected to be equipped with a large solar garage. Musk also said that Tesla plans to disconnect the "almost all" Supercharger from the grid and switch to solar cells.
Tesla also said that by the end of this year, the number of Superchargers will double, and the plan announced that less than two months, Tesla has more than 40 charging stations to start construction or obtain a building permit. The main unknown information about Supercharger is when to start deploying Supercharger "version 3.0".
