New Year's Day, the United States will ban 40W, 60W traditional incandescent lamps

Manufacturers of 40-watt and 60-watt incandescent lamps that American households most like to use will stop production and supply from January 1, 2014. According to the incandescent ban passed in 2007, more than 100 watts of incandescent lamps were eliminated in 2012, and 75 watts and 100 watts of incandescent lamps were discontinued in 2013.

The controversial law aims to promote energy-efficient compact fluorescent lamps, LED lights and other energy-efficient bulbs.

Replacable light bulbs, including halogen lamps, compact fluorescent bulbs, LED lights, and high-efficiency incandescent lamps, experts point out that high-efficiency incandescent lamps cost about $1.50 each, far more than the $0.50 of traditional incandescent lamps. By a factor of two, the energy consumption is also reduced by 28%.

This rule was signed by former President Bush in 2007 to address the inefficiency of old-fashioned incandescent lamps; according to the Federal Environmental Protection Agency, the energy consumed by such a bulb is only converted into light, and the rest of the energy. It is a waste of form of heat.

However, the ban may be dissatisfied with some consumers who have already faced rising prices of household goods.
