According to foreign media reports, the European Commission is currently funding new inorganic and organic hybrid lighting module research projects. This module is designed for the earliest areas of professional lighting and architectural lighting using LED lighting technology.
The project was named LASSIE-FP7 (large-area solid-state smart energy-saving luminaire) and its goal is to help increase the penetration of LEDs throughout the market. The European Commission provided €3.15 million in funding for the project and was coordinated by the Swiss Non-Profit Private Sector Swiss Electronics and Microtechnology Center (CSEM). The project will be limited to the study of modules and will not involve finished lamps.
The results expected from the project include the development of a 600mm x 600mm module that the manufacturer can apply to its products, followed by the development of related technology integration methods such as the use of color sensors or the integration of LEDs into flexible linings or plastic sheets.
"The hybrid SSL module developed by combining high-efficiency, long-life inorganic LEDs with innovative color-changing coatings based on stable and reliable organic fluorescent dyes will enable new devices beyond the boundaries of existing technologies," CSEM's LASSIE- Dr. Rolando Fellini, coordinator of the FP7 project, said. He also said that the innovation of this project is to integrate different elements, and the materials used will make mass production possible.
