Induction heating appliances typically employ a resonant topology that requires a single-tube IGBT to exhibit optimum performance over a switching frequency range of 18 kHz to 40 kHz. Infineon Technologies AG introduces new single-tube IGBT devices that meet these needs. The cost and functionality of the new RC-E series are optimized to meet the needs of cost-effective induction cookers and electromagnetic rice cookers.
Monolithic integrated reverse conducting diode
The new RC-E series IGBTs use a monolithic integrated reverse-conducting diode for resonant switching. This helps to reduce the switching losses and conduction losses of the device. Lower loss enables designers to more easily achieve the efficiency and power goals of induction heating appliances, reducing power consumption and thus reducing consumer costs. With low turn-off losses (Eoff), forward voltage drop (VF), thermal resistance (Rth), and saturated voltage drop (Vce(sat)), the family sets new benchmarks in price/performance and ease of use.
The new RC-E series combines the quality advantages of Infineon's RC single-tube IGBTs to meet all the requirements of soft switching applications, including efficiency and electromagnetic interference (EMI). The RC-E series offers high performance comparable to previous generations at a more attractive price, reducing bill of materials (BOM) costs. The RC-E family of devices is available in a standard TO-247 package that directly replaces existing designs.
Availability
The new RC-E series will be available in two products: 15A and 25A, both with a breakdown voltage of 1200 V. Currently in volume production, welcome to sample. For more information, please visit
