New standards for petrochemical and wafer semiconductor industry

The EPA has recently updated the standards for the discharge of water in the petrochemical industry, petrochemical sewerage system, wafer manufacturing and semiconductor manufacturing industries. Six items of volatile organics such as ammonia nitrogen, chlorine or benzene, and six plasticizers including DEHP have been included in the regulation.

The ED estimated that the reduction of 4,000 metric tons of ammonia nitrogen into rivers and rivers would urge manufacturers to exercise caution in dealing with sources of more significant cancer-causing compounds such as chlorine and benzene, and to strengthen the source management of process waste solvents.

The new standards will regulate the release of water from rivers and marine pipelines in the petrochemical industry. Among them, six volatile organic substances such as benzene and vinyl chloride, and six plasticizers such as DEHP, DNOP, DMP, DEP, DBP and BBP For the first time, a limit will be set; if the release of discharge water effluent is located in a water source, water quality or water conservation area, a more stringent fixed ammonia nitrogen control limit will apply.

The standards for wafer manufacturing and semi-conductor manufacturing discharge water standards include the addition of fluoride salts, ammonia nitrogen, and total toxic organic substances. Ammonia nitrogen also depends on whether it is located in a protected area and adjusts stricter limits.
