Single solar cells cannot be used directly as a power source. As a power source, several cells must be connected in series, in parallel, and tightly sealed into components. Solar panels (also called solar modules) are a core part of solar power systems and the most important part of solar power systems.
Tools/raw materialsA piece of copper, about 30CM & TImes; 15CM or so two spring clip leads a sensitive micro-ampere meter, can read an electric furnace of 10 to 50 microamps, a large transparent plastic bottle of 1000W or more, 2L of mineral water bottle Salt, tap water, sandpaper, metal sheet cutter
Method / Step First Step: Making Cuprous OxideFirst cut off a piece of copper that is the size of an electric burner. Wash your hands and do not have any grease or stains. Then wash the copper sheet with soap or detergent, leaving no oil stains. Polish the copper sheet with sandpaper to remove all sulfide or surface corrosion. Next, the washed dry copper piece is placed on an electric furnace, and the electric furnace is adjusted to the maximum power.
As the copper sheet heats up, we can see the formation of a beautiful oxide layer. Orange, purple, and red will cover the copper.
As the temperature of the copper sheet is further increased, the color is replaced by a layer of black copper oxide. This is not the oxide we want, and it will then peel off, showing the colorful layer of cuprous oxide below.
When the electric furnace becomes hot, the copper sheet will be covered with a layer of black copper oxide. Let it continue to heat for half an hour, the copper oxide layer on the surface of the copper sheet will become thicker. This is important, the thick copper oxide layer peels off well, and the thin copper oxide layer clings to the copper surface.
After half an hour, turn off the electric stove. Leave the copper on the electric stove and let it cool down slowly. If you cool it too quickly, the black oxide will stick to the copper.
As the copper sheet cools, it gradually shrinks. Black copper oxide also shrinks, but they shrink at different rates, which causes the black copper oxide to fall off.
When the temperature of the copper sheet drops to room temperature, most of the black copper oxide is peeled off. Gently scrub small black spots on the copper sheet under the flowing water. Do not attempt to scrub or bend the copper sheet to remove all black spots, which will destroy the cuprous oxide on the surface of the copper sheet.
Step 2: Assemble and cut another piece of copper, the same size as the previous one. Gently bend the two pieces of copper so that they can be inserted into the plastic bottle without touching each other. The cuprous oxide layer for the electric furnace is preferably facing the outside of the plastic bottle because its surface is the smoothest and cleanest. Clip the two spring clips, one on the new copper piece, the wire is connected to the positive pole of the ammeter; one is clamped to the copper sheet covered with cuprous oxide, and the wire is connected to the negative pole of the ammeter. Now, mix two tablespoons of salt in hot tap water until the salt is completely dissolved. Then carefully pour the brine into the plastic bottle, taking care not to wet the spring clips. The brine does not have to completely cover the copper. You should leave at least 2CM on the water so that when you move it, the water will not wet the spring clip.
