OFweek Semiconductor Lighting Network OSRAM Opto Semiconductors has launched the latest DurisS8, a multi-chip, high-power new force for the DurisS LED series.
This LED is finely grouped and provides excellent color consistency when combined with high brightness. This new DurisS is mainly used for directional and multi-directional replacement lamps for indoor lighting , as well as for LED projection lamps; it is particularly suitable for directional lighting in office and commercial environments, as well as for home lighting.
This fine-grained grouping of LEDs corresponds to the coverage of the fifth-order MacAdam elliptical grouping, thus achieving excellent color consistency in directional replacement lamps. If the requirements for color homogeneity are high, an additional third-order MacAdam cluster can be provided.
DurisS8 is grouped according to color coordinates at a junction temperature of 100 ° C, rather than the usual room temperature. According to Janick Ihringer, product manager for solid-state lighting at Osram Opto Semiconductors' German headquarters, Duris S8's color rendering index exceeds 80 in terms of color rendering. The next phase of the task is to further increase the color rendering index.
The new DurisS also emits a lot of light from a small surface, creating a highly efficient optical solution. The product size is only 5.8x5.2mm, and there are two versions, six or eight. The directional replacement luminaire can be used in an eight-wafer version, thanks to the brightness of the product at 500 mA up to 500 lm.
Ihringer added that a small, low-cost drive module for 20 to 30V forward voltage is available. In addition, they have a number of excellent technical features, such as a life of up to 25,000 hours or can operate at 110 ° C operating temperature, especially suitable for the target application system.
The DurisS8 also reduces the system cost of the lighting system. The DurisS package contains an innovative plastic housing that is not only resistant to aging under high temperature and short-wave conditions, but also cost less than conventional ceramic housings.
