Google Helps Medical: Will build a robotic assisted surgery platform

Johnson & Johnson, a world-renowned healthcare and consumer care products company, recently announced that Google will team up with its subsidiary Ethicon to create a "robot-assisted surgery platform." The specific details of the cooperation between the two parties are still unknown and are expected to be implemented in the next few months. Robotic surgery can refer to autonomous robots, but usually means surgeons control the tools through a computer screen. Surgical robots can significantly increase the cost of surgery, and may also be riddled with lawsuits, such as the Da Vinci robotic surgery system that caused five deaths, and was investigated by the FDA (US Food and Drug Administration) in 2013. However, with the development of science and technology, under ideal conditions, robots can show their talents in surgical precision.

Johnson & Johnson described it as “a minimally invasive procedure that gives the surgical procedure better control and accuracy, minimizing trauma and scarring.” Google’s crossover to the operating table is the first of its kind, but its interest in medicine has been around for a long time. In addition to launching Google Fit Health Services last year, it also partnered with pharmaceutical company AbbVie to develop new drugs for cancer and senile diseases. All of this is for Google's ultimate goal - "cure death." Google's wearable platform and web services make it possible to get a lot of health data; Apple has also recently started using similar resources for medical testing. In some specific surgical areas, Google Glass has been used by surgeons as displays.

It is speculated that the surgical procedure should be that the robot picks up the scalpel autonomously and the surgeon performs remote control operations from the computer screen. Johnson & Johnson said that the technology allows for fine surgery in areas that are difficult for doctors to reach, allowing doctors to better control and access during surgery and achieve accuracy while minimizing trauma and scarring.
