It is reported that in the remote areas of California, three cities will replace the original environmental lighting to save energy. The buildings in Lake Tahoe, in southern Sierra Nevada, California, also have new T8 fluorescent lamps and LED lights and sensor devices.
The lighting upgrades in these three cities are expected to save more than 380,000 kilowatts per hour of electricity per year and reduce the carbon dioxide emissions of 132 metric tons in California. The project was completed in 2012 and the main cost was paid by the US Energy Agency based on the US Reinvestment Recovery Act.
