Three cities in California use LED lighting to respond to energy saving plans

It is reported that in the remote areas of California, three cities will replace the original environmental lighting to save energy. The Yuca Valley City in the San Bernardino County Moroccan Basin, the Golita on the Santa Barra Coast, and Lake Tahoe in Eldorado County have all implemented the California Energy Commission's plan to promote The city uses energy efficient lighting fixtures.

Through the California Energy Board's subsidy, Yuca Valley has completely changed the original 1000-inch white light bulb to a T8 fluorescent lamp, which not only makes the operation more efficient, but also reduces the consumption of 5 watts per light bulb. The city’s exit signs have also been converted to LED lighting to reduce power consumption while extending lamp life. The urban development building, community center, city hall, museum and elderly center have all carried out this lighting upgrade plan.

In the city of Goleta, the lighting of the city hall and four local schools was replaced with T8 fluorescent lights, and the exit signs were illuminated by LEDs. 84 new LED street lights were installed along the coast.

The buildings in Lake Tahoe, in southern Sierra Nevada, California, also have new T8 fluorescent lamps and LED lights and sensor devices.

The lighting upgrades in these three cities are expected to save more than 380,000 kilowatts per hour of electricity per year and reduce the carbon dioxide emissions of 132 metric tons in California. The project was completed in 2012 and the main cost was paid by the US Energy Agency based on the US Reinvestment Recovery Act.
