China Unicom officially issued a statement yesterday, saying that it will further cancel the group's unified package roaming charges from October 1. So far, the three major operators have publicly stated that they will cancel the roaming fee.
China Unicom said that its 3G and 4G packages launched over the years are basically “Changshi Man†integrated tariff packages, and no long-distance fees and roaming charges are charged. Starting from October 1 this year, the company will further cancel the roaming fee for the Group's unified package. China Unicom's provincial companies can carry out some preferential activities according to local conditions, and the total tariff is more favorable than the Group's unified package.
Previously, both China Mobile and China Telecom had already announced their cancellation of roaming charges. Yang Jie, chairman of China Telecom Group, said on July 15 that the company will gradually cancel long-distance roaming charges this year, and will take the lead in implementing the full flow meter fee, that is, telephone and SMS are converted into traffic and unified billing.
Correspondingly, China Telecom's just-released "Tianyi 4G+Cloud Card" does not set a monthly package fee, and users receive the corresponding amount of traffic after recharging. It is worth noting that the traffic purchased by the consumer using the card is valid for 3 months, and the period is not cleared. The cost of calling or texting by the consumer can be converted into the flow rate.
A month later, China Mobile also had a similar statement. Li Yue, CEO of the company, said at the interim results conference that China Mobile has stopped selling new packages including long-distance roaming since July, and expects to cancel all long-distance roaming packages at the end of this year and gradually promote nationwide integration tariffs.
