Taiwan Introduces LED Bulb Subsidy Policy

The "Ministry of Economic Affairs" of Taiwan stated on December 3 that in February 2013, it will implement a high-efficiency LED bulb subsidy for 220,000 low- and middle-income households, low-income households, and social welfare agencies in Taiwan. It is expected that the purchase of light bulbs will increase. Administrative expenses will be set at NT$230 million.

In addition to the first two waves of energy-saving appliance subsidies, Taiwan's "Energy Administration of the Ministry of Economic Affairs" has again launched the "winter warm-up LED bulb subsidy." Calculated with a total promotion of 500,000, it can save about 47 million kWh each year, which is equivalent to assisting disadvantaged people. Save NT$130 million in electricity bills each year.

Gao Shufang, deputy head of Taiwan’s “Energy Administration” pointed out that the first phase of the promotion plan will target the social welfare agencies registered by the Ministry of the Interior (including welfare agencies for the elderly, children and juveniles placement agencies, welfare agencies for the disabled, and homeless placement agencies and women. Welfare agencies, etc., sent 24 LED (Light Emitting Diode) bulbs per institution before the Lunar New Year in 2013.

The second stage will be from April 1st to April 30th, 2013. For each low-income and low-income household in Taiwan, two LED bulbs will be given to each household.

Gao Shufang stated that low-income households and low-income households are assisted by village officials in the distribution and exchange of goods. If the people have installation requirements, they will also be assisted.

In addition, after the promotion period ended on May 14, 2013, a light bulb was damaged during the warranty period, and users can call the service provider's service hotline to exchange goods.
