According to Digital Trends, a Galaxy Club forum in the Netherlands recently revealed three trademarks that Samsung applied for. It is understood that the trademark is likely to represent Samsung's upcoming devices. The most notable is of course the middle "VR" trademark, and the other two are the "Odyssey" trademark and an unnamed cube trademark. The classification code of the three trademarks is "9". For the description of code "9", the project introduction mentioned computer virtual reality games, virtual reality game software and virtual reality heads-up display. In other words, the "Odyssey" trademark is probably the name of Samsung's independent VR head display.
Samsung entered the field of VR very early on and launched the Gear VR. However, this product itself needs mobile phone support, and the display effect directly depends on the mobile phone itself, and the experience is far inferior to the well-known PS VR, HTC Vive and other products. Seeing that the VR field continues to be hot today, Samsung finally couldn't help it. In April this year, Samsung confirmed that it is developing a VR all-in-one product. The all-in-one machine can operate independently without a Samsung smartphone, and has the same position tracking technology as the high-end VR head display Oculus Rift and HTC Vive. This shows that Samsung will work with the HTC Vive. Oculus Rift competes for the high-end VR head display market. Injong Rhee, head of Samsung's R&D center, said that Samsung hopes to combine wireless capabilities with high-quality virtual reality experiences to support location tracking and high-fidelity graphics quality. At the same time, motion tracking and tactile feedback are key research directions of the company.
As we all know, Samsung hopes to release new Galaxy Gear VR and Note 7 phones in the next few weeks. However, we have not yet got a clear timetable for the new independent headline. Samsung may release such a device before the Christmas holidays, or it may be listed concurrently with the next flagship device. But no matter what, with the advent of these two release deadlines (Christmas holidays and New Year), we will hear more news about this product. â€
