On November 10, the first power-measuring optical fiber cable in our province was built at the 110 kV Wangcun substation of Xinxiang Power Supply Company. The application of this technology realizes the real-time online monitoring of the ambient temperature of the power cable, and provides an accurate basis for accident investigation of the power cable.
The 110 kV Wangcun substation is the first digitalized, unattended substation in Xinxiang Power Grid, and has two main transformers. The substation capacity is 63,000 megavolt-ampere. 110 kV Wangxi Line, Fengwang Line and Zhuwang Line form Xinxiang. The radiation network in the north of the power supply area has obvious regional locations. The outlet cables in the station all pass through a cable tunnel corridor. The commissioning of the power temperature measuring optical cable will enable real-time monitoring of cable temperature changes in the power tunnel, analysis of cable ageing, and effective identification of cables, cable trenches, cable aging, and early warning of fire caused by overheating. An alarm signal is issued before the cable actually fails.
The power temperature measuring optical cable is based on the "Raman scattering" effect produced by pulsed excitation of an optical waveguide by a laser radar, and a new technology of "temperature detection" is developed. The technology integrates four technologies of communication, remote sensing, optical fiber, and computer network. It is composed of fiber optic temperature measurement system, temperature sensor, multi-mode optical fiber cable, optical fiber sensor network analyzer and computer terminal monitoring equipment. It can analyze the fault characteristics such as over-cooled and over-heated cables. Through the maintenance terminal DTS (Distributed Optical Fiber Temperature Measurement System), it can monitor the operating temperature of transmission lines online and monitor the current-carrying capacity. It also has SMS alarm function. At present, the technology has reached the international advanced level.
It is understood that this piece of electrical temperature measuring cable has a total length of more than 13 kilometers. It adopts a single-core 62.5/125 micron standard multi-mode temperature-sensing optical fiber cable. It can detect a temperature change of 1[deg.] C. per meter, and has strong anti-interference and accuracy. High, safe and reliable. After the application of this technology, real-time monitoring of the temperature change of the power cable is realized, and the location of the fault point is accurately measured to provide a reliable security guarantee for safe production, power operation management and future smart grid construction.
