So, can robots help us with the cancer that haunts humans and can't be sustained for too long?
Recently, according to foreign media reports, scientists at Philips Research Institute in Hamburg, Germany, designed a magnetron micro robot that can help humans treat cancer.
In fact, in the past decade, scientists have demonstrated that they can use magnetic force to manipulate medical devices implanted in the human body. For example, they use magnetic fields to control the heart catheters, manipulate micro-cameras to shuttle in the intestines, and so on.
However, how to control a certain number of devices individually in a group of micro-devices and let them run at a specific speed and direction is still a big problem. Because in the same magnetic field, the same device will often have exactly the same performance.
Today, Philips scientists have come up with a solution that allows for a single manipulation of a group of magnet devices, allowing each device to perform a specific task on its own.
Researchers can use powerful magnetic fields to control each micro-robot. They use powerful magnetic force to hold each small screw in place. However, scientists leave room inside the magnetic field so that the fixed small screws can rotate freely inside.
With this design, they attach tiny movable supports to the screws, which can be independently controlled.
Philips physicist Jürgen Rahmer said that these robots can perform complex operations in the human body without batteries or motors.
According to reports, they have produced hundreds of such robots, each of which can be independently controlled.
So far, magnetic screws have been tested in the LEGO robot. As shown in the figure above, with the help of tiny magnetic screws, these sprouting small Lego robots can flexibly move its limbs.
Scientists believe that these robots can help fight cancer in the future.
They suggested that these robots could be hidden in tiny pills and then injected into the blood. Pills are made of metallic materials that prevent radiation leakage and can pass through the body harmlessly until they reach the tumor cells.
Afterwards, the doctor manipulates the robots to open the pills and then releases the agent to kill the tumor cells. In specific operations, doctors can use magnetic field manipulation screws to open the capsules to ensure that the radioactive drugs in the capsules only work on cancer cells without harming healthy cells, thereby reducing side effects.
After the tumor is destroyed, scientists will use magnetic force to shut down these robots.
The researchers pointed out that the technology can also be used to make medical implants that change over time. For example, after a patient recovers, the doctor can use a magnetic field to change the shape of the implant to better fit the patient's body.
According to Rahmer, in the future, they plan to develop small magnetic field emitters for controlling micro-magnetic robots, and use X-ray emitters, or ultrasound scanners, and other imaging technologies to observe the position of these devices in the human body.
Perhaps one day, these robots can become helpers for human immune cells. This sprouting little robot can help them kill cancer cells, help friends who are suffering from cancer away from nightmares and embrace new students.
