First half of the global electric vehicle sales rankings: Geely won BYD wins

Recently, Gasgo Motors completed the ranking of global electric vehicle sales in the first half of 2016. In the list of car companies, BYD continued to lead with absolute advantage. Tesla competed for second place with Nissan. In the top 20 car companies, Chinese companies accounted for nine seats, and Geely entered the list.

According to statistics agency statistics, sales of electric vehicles (including pure electric vehicles and plug-in hybrid vehicles) in the global range were 67,075 units in June 2015, an increase of 57% year-on-year; cumulative global sales volume in the first half of the year was 306,823 units, a year-on-year increase Increased 49%. The agency predicts that the global sales of electric vehicles in 2016 may exceed 800,000 units. Although sales in the first half of this year are less than half of this target, it is expected to achieve this goal at this rate of increase.

According to the data of the Federation of Travel Unions, sales of new energy passenger vehicles in China rose by 163% year-on-year to 34,008 units in June, while sales in the first half of the year totaled 1,120,820,000 units, including 80,504 units of pure electric vehicles, a year-on-year increase of 166%; Sales of 39,878 vehicles rose by 91% year-on-year.

China’s active promotion of new energy automobile policies is an important factor in the rapid development of the new energy automobile market. Subsidies are the key to attracting consumers to purchase. However, the country’s strict investigation of fraudulent claims by car companies will, to a certain extent, repair the hidden dangers of the rapid development of the market.

Car sales: BYD won the championship

BYD sold 10,129 vehicles in June, only 19 vehicles less than the highest sales volume in its market, setting a new record for sales in the same period. In the first half of the year, cumulative sales were 43,244, up 14% year-on-year, once again beating Nissan and leading all automakers. In the first six months, January, April, May and June, BYD has become the global sales champion.

In June, Tesla sold 7,567 units. In the first half of the year, it sold 29,403 units, ranking second in terms of single month and cumulative total. Nissan sold 4,468 units in June. Its sales volume in the first half of the year increased by 9% year-on-year to 28,884 units, ranking third.

In the top 20 sales, in addition to BYD, there are eight Chinese car companies on the list, namely BAIC, JAC, SAIC Roewe, Zotye, Condi, JMC, Chery and Geely.

Geely is the top 20 new entrants to global electric vehicle sales, with 1,334 units sold in June and 3,795 units in the first half of the year. This is related to China's support for the development of electric vehicles. In 2014, Chinese auto companies accounted for 17% of the global electric vehicle market. By 2015, their share has increased to 32%, and it has increased again to 39% in the first half of this year. The Evsaleblog agency expects that in 2016 China's auto companies will contribute more than 50% of the global electric vehicle sales.

Vehicle sales: Nissan Leaf leads

In terms of sales in the first half of the year, the Nissan Leaf beat the Tesla Model S by 27,151 to lead the crowd. This model is also the main vehicle for Nissan sales and contributes 94% of sales. In the single-month sales, the Tesla Model S is the sales champion. It sold 5,401 vehicles last month, setting a record for sales in the second quarter.

BYD Tang sold 3,519 units in June, ranking fourth in the month. It ranked third in sales in the first half of the year, 19,134 units; Qin sold 9,633 units in the first half of the year, ranking eighth. The two plug-in hybrid vehicles sold a total of 28,767 vehicles in the first half of the year, contributing 66.5% of sales to BYD. BYD Qin ranks or further improves in the next few months, with monthly sales once again rising to fourth place.

The Kandy Panda EV returned to the list in April this year and maintained a high ranking. In June, it sold 4,670 units. It ranked second in the month, with 7.797 units sold in the first half of the year, ranking 13th. SAIC Roewe e550 sold 2,329 units in June, ranking 7th; sales in the first half of the year were 8,711 units, ranking 11th.

The Beiqi E-series EVs delivered 1,265 vehicles in June. The month ranked relatively backward, ranking only sixteenth. However, the first half sales volume was 9,977 units, ranking seventh.
