Light-emitting diodes ( LEDs ), which gradually replace traditional white heat bulbs and fluorescent lamps, have the advantages of low pollution, low power consumption, high luminous efficiency, long life, and anhydrous silver. Its development trend has become the focus of global attention. In recent years, with the luminous efficiency of LEDs even surpassing traditional fluorescent lamps, it is generally considered that it is more and more important to improve the overall efficiency of lighting fixtures in the future. However, in fact, no matter which type of LED lamp driving circuit, there will be about 10~20%. Consumption power loss, so improving the conversion efficiency of power supply, has once again become an important issue.
In the past, the DC140V power supply method after AC100V smoothing was extremely prone to surge current. The so-called "surge current" surge current refers to the huge charging current flowing into the smoothing capacitor after the power is turned on. A drive circuit with a smoothing capacitor that can drive a plurality of LEDs may cause the breaker to trip when lighting, and the high-temperature melt adhesion of the power switch and the overload of the circuit components may cause various problems. Although the surge current suppression circuit has been put into practical use, its power conversion efficiency is very low. Therefore, researchers have used a semiconductor relay (Photo MOS Relay) to develop a drive circuit for LED lamps to achieve high efficiency of the LED drive circuit.
According to the experimental results, the power supply voltage of 90~110V is changed, the power conversion efficiency is as high as 80.7~91.8%, and the surge current can also be reduced. The new LED lamp driver circuit fully utilizes the characteristics of two semiconductor relays. It features high efficiency, low power consumption, low component count, low industrial waste and low production cost. Even if the lighting fixtures increase the efficiency of 1%, it will contribute to the suppression of carbon dioxide emissions or slow down the global warming. Therefore, the development of the driver circuit for LED lamps has been highly valued by the industry. Then this paper will discuss the operation principle and characteristics of the new LED lamp driving circuit using the semiconductor relay surge current suppression circuit.
LED drive circuit
Figure 1 is a drive circuit for a new type of LED lamp. When considering the overall efficiency of a lighting fixture, power efficiency is as important as LED lighting efficiency. Basically, the forward voltage of the LED is only very low, so the LED lamp can use various methods to convert the AC100~110V power supply to drive the LED.
