Canada announces voluntary recall of Chinese-made LED nightlights

[High-tech LED News] It is reported that Health Canada and Staples Promotional Products and Trane jointly announced a voluntary recall of Chinese-made LED nightlights. Health Canada advises consumers to stop using the LED night light immediately and contact Camsing for a refund.

The LED night light is 9.5 cm (3.75 in) wide and 4.5 cm (1.75 in) high. It contains flame-retardant parts, a white LED bulb and a transparent casing with a plug that plugs directly into the socket. The back of the white base is printed with the words "Model SBD01", the numbers "E314462" and "China". The LED night light was distributed as a free promotional item only in Ontario, Canada from January 20th to June 27th, 2011.

The number of recalled goods is about 500. The reason for the recall is that the LED night light will be overheated, burned or melted after being energized, which may cause slight burns to the consumer. To date, Trane has received five reports of overheating, burning or melting of this LED nightlight, but no personnel or property damage.
