The gospel of wearable devices, the graphene OLED flexible display came out!

After four years of hard work, a recent research team from South Korea successfully developed the world's first OLED display panel with integrated graphene electrodes. Maybe you don't feel like reading this result, but it is very important. In flexible ultra-thin graphene OLED screens, it is likely to be further used in wearable devices and smart clothing in the future.

The gospel of wearable devices, the graphene OLED flexible display came out!

Graphene OLED flexible display is available, and wearable devices have been saved.

The researchers replaced the traditional indium tin oxide electrode with graphene and developed an OLED panel with a size of 370 & TImes; 470 mm and a thickness of only 5 nm. In contrast, our hair has a thickness of 80,000 to 90,000 nanometers. And if this ultra-thin, ultra-compact flexible OLED screen is combined with high-performance equipment, the future is of great significance for flexible display technology.

For wearables and smart clothing, the future needs to be able to bend and curl on the screen to match our body, and this requires a new and flexible material that can be wrapped in plastic to continue to function. The next goal of the research team was to try to use a plastic substrate for this graphene flexible OLED instead of the glass used today, thus further increasing flexibility and improving the toughness of the screen.

According to the research group's responsible unit, the Korea Electronics and Telecommunications Technology Research Institute, if the technology is successfully developed, the manufacturing technology of graphene OLED panels can be rapidly promoted after commercialization in the future.

Graphene has always been known as “magical material” and has been used in many industries. From the battery to the filter that can turn seawater into fresh water, you can see graphene. Graphene has been used in the field of display technology for many years, and various prototype products have appeared. At the beginning of this year, the first graphene electrode OLED appeared in Germany, and in the next two to three years, we are likely to see the actual application of the product.
