The SN3340 is a continuous mode inductive buck converter designed to efficiently drive single or multiple series LEDs from a voltage source higher than the LED. The device's input voltage range is between 6V and 18V and provides an externally adjustable constant output current of up to 750mA. Depending on the supply voltage and external components, the device can deliver up to 12 watts of output power.
The SN3340 includes an output switch and a high side output current sense circuit that uses an external resistor to set the nominal average output current. The output current can be linearly adjusted by applying an external control signal to the ADJ pin. The ADJ pin accepts a DC voltage or PWM waveform. This will provide a continuous or gated output current depending on the control frequency.
Applying a voltage of 0.2V or lower to the ADJ pin will turn the output off and put the device into a low current standby state. The SN3340 is available in SOT23-5 and SOT89-5 packages for 350mA and 700mA output current applications.
