China Mobile Multimedia Broadcasting (CMMB) is developing beyond mainland China! Due to the rapid development of CMMB in 2008 and the outstanding performance during the Beijing Olympics, TVB, the largest television station in Hong Kong, has decided to launch a CMMB technology test in Hong Kong. This trial was jointly carried out by TVB, Planning Institute of State Administration of Radio, Film and Television, and Beijing Boxin Vision Technology Co., Ltd. According to reports, the launch site was built on Ciyun Mountain, a relatively high altitude in Hong Kong, and opened successfully on November 25. Its single-site transmission signal is sufficient to cover the Hong Kong Island, Kowloon and Shatian areas, fully reflecting the wide coverage of the CMMB signal. There are 5 sets of pilot programs, including 3 sets of TVB programs, namely J2 premium channel, Jade Channel and News Channel.
Considering the special landforms in Hong Kong and the dense urban buildings, this CMMB test will carry out adequate signal testing in different areas such as outdoor, shallow indoor, deep indoor, and car. The maximum speed of the car test is 300 kilometers per hour. . The terminals involved in the test include various types, including mobile phones, MP4, GPS, and USB TV sticks.
After repeated tests of various terminals, it was confirmed that the CMMB pilot program can be played clearly and smoothly in all regions within the Hong Kong test range.
In this test, the Planning Institute of the State Administration of Radio, Film and Television provided the CMMB test equipment and road test program; TVB was responsible for the basic work of the official test frequency, test site, and test vehicle; CMMB mobile phones and other terminals, and is responsible for providing the entire CMMB test parameter selection suggestions, test experts, system integration and other important work.
The CMMB trial in Hong Kong started in late November, which lasted only about half a month, and was successfully launched successfully, and passed the review of Hong Kong government officials and TVB company executives. The indicators and status of the entire test equipment have reached excellent standards, and the test results have won the praise of Hong Kong government officials and TVB companies.
