The working principle of a three-phase asynchronous motor is based on the interaction of the stator rotating magnetic field (the resultant magnetic field generated by the three-phase currents in the stator windings) and the rotor currents (the currents in the rotor windings).
When the symmetrical three-phase winding of the stator is connected to the three-phase power supply, the symmetrical three-phase current will pass through the winding, and a rotating magnetic field will be generated in the space, and the magnetic field will rotate along the inner circumference of the stator. When the magnetic field rotates, the conductor of the rotor winding will cut the magnetic flux The induced electromotive force E will be generated, and the rotor current I will be generated in the rotor winding due to the existence of the electromotive force E. According to Ampere's law of electromagnetic force, the interaction between the rotor current and the rotating magnetic field will generate an electromagnetic force F (the direction of which is determined by the left-hand rule), which forms an electromagnetic torque on the shaft of the rotor, and the direction of action of the torque is the same as that of the rotating magnetic field. The rotation direction is the same, and the rotor will rotate according to the rotation direction of the rotating magnetic field under the action of this torque. However, the rotational speed n of the rotor is always smaller than the rotational speed n0 of the rotating magnetic field (called the synchronous rotational speed), because if the two rotational speeds are equal, the rotor and the rotating magnetic field do not move relative to each other, and the rotor conductor does not cut the magnetic flux, and the induced electromotive force cannot be generated. And current, there is no electromagnetic torque, the rotor will not continue to rotate. Therefore, the speed difference between the rotor and the rotating magnetic field is the main factor to ensure the rotation of the rotor.
