(August 27, 2014, Shanghai News) Sponsored by the Computer Science Professional Teaching Steering Committee of the Ministry of Education, the world's leading analog and embedded processing semiconductor manufacturer Texas Instruments (TI) co-organized the "2014 TI Cup National University Bio-networking Design The competition was held at Shanghai Jiaotong University from August 25th to August 27th. Senior professors and industry experts from more than 30 universities selected 50 entries. The team from Harbin Institute of Technology won the praise of the expert review team for the “Smart Bedroom†project and won the special award. Deputy Director of the Computer Science Teaching Guidance Committee of the Ministry of Education, Professor Fu Yuxi of Shanghai Jiaotong University, Douglas Phillips, Program Manager of Texas Instruments Global University, Cheng Xiaowei, Director of Processor and Wireless Product Business Development, Texas Instruments, and Shen Jie, Program Director, Texas Instruments China University Attending the award ceremony.
The 2014 TI Cup National University Bio-Networking Design Competition was launched four years after the Ministry of Education approved the opening of the Internet of Things project. In order to adapt to the continuous development of the Internet of Things technology and cultivate the innovative talents of the Internet of Things, it was officially launched by the Computer Teaching and Learning Committee of the Ministry of Education. The first national university bio-network design competition. Encourage college students to apply innovation through competition, communicate with the industry, and promote the construction and development of the Internet of Things engineering.
The Internet of Things is considered to be the most promising industry in the future. According to Gartner, by 2020, the installed capacity of IoT, excluding PCs, tablets and smartphones, will grow to 26 billion units. A few years ago, TI researched and developed the IoT market, developed a variety of applications, and actively established the IoT ecosystem. At present, TI has become a supplier of all module chips for IoT applications. From nodes to gateways to the cloud, TI has prepared a wide range of products and solutions for the Internet of Things, including microcontrollers, processors, and cable/ Wireless connectivity, sensors, signal chains and power management solutions. With flexible hardware and a rich software portfolio, customers can easily find Internet of Things solutions that match their needs and develop connected products quickly and easily.
Professor Fu Yuxi, deputy director of the Computer-based Professional Teaching Steering Committee of the Ministry of Education of the Ministry of Education, said: "As a new profession for emerging strategic industries, IoT engineering education emphasizes the importance of practical education. In the field of Internet of Things. In the forefront of enterprises, TI has helped the professional construction of the Internet of Things project to provide students with an opportunity to practice, communicate and develop their innovative talents, which will definitely play a positive role in the development of China's Internet of Things industry."
In this competition, more than 500 teams from more than 200 colleges and universities across the country participated in the fierce competition. The contestants gave full play to their creative abilities. The works were brilliant and presented in the booth. They were subtly interpreted in the defense and given to the judges. The participating experts, entrepreneurs and spectators were deeply impressed. Among them, the special prize project “Smart Bedroom†uses the Internet of Things technology to bring the concept of smart home into the student bedroom, using TI's BeagleBone Black AM335x as the gateway and CC2530 as the node control. It realizes six-part intelligent control of central control, access control, fire prevention, anti-theft, bed unit and adaptive lighting of the bedroom. The project is not only innovative, but also a combination of campus life and practical value.
Students from Harbin Institute of Technology won the special prize for this competition with the "Smart Bedroom" project.

TI is committed to achieving a better world through innovation, from research and development of leading-edge technologies, to responsible manufacturing, and innovation as TI's foundation. TI's university program is designed to help tomorrow's engineers achieve their innovative vision, providing teachers and students with a wealth of teaching resources, laboratory collaboration projects, research collaboration projects, and an electronic design competition platform that allows them to gain more in their daily learning and research. Have fun and master the world's leading technology in practice. This competition is to provide a platform for exchanges and learning for college students of the Internet of Things, to promote the combination of production, education and research, and to give students a wealth of practical opportunities. On the platform provided by TI, many students have gained innovative ways of thinking. It will greatly help its future employment.
Ms. Shen Jie, Program Director of TI China University, summarized the progress made in the annual university program and shared her vision for future university planning. Ms. Shen Jie is particularly grateful to the Ministry of Education and the teachers of the universities for their support of the TI University program. The teachers are the most valuable asset of the TI University program. With the unremitting efforts of the teachers, TI China University plans to bear fruit today. She said, "In the future, TI University plans to explore and practice innovative talent training models in more fields with the support of teachers."
The university program is an extremely important part of TI's global strategy. Over the years, TI has spared no effort to promote the “University Plan†on a global scale. Through the cradle of technology, it has adopted a variety of means and measures to cultivate a large number of senior professionals who master the world's advanced technology. TI China University is scheduled to be officially launched in 1996. It consists of three parts: the Analog University Program, the MCU University Program, and the Digital Signal Processing (DSP) University Program. TI has signed two 10-year plans with the Ministry of Education and has established more than 1,500 simulation laboratories, micro-control laboratories, digital signal processing laboratories, student innovation laboratories, and the Internet of Things in more than 600 universities in China. In the application labs for automotive electronics, digital power, solar energy, more than 45,000 students are trained in TI's joint labs each year, more than 130,000 students receive TI technical training, and tens of thousands of students participate in TI-sponsored College student design competition.
